PIAA is in compliance with all NCAA and NAIA rules and regulations. PIAA is a 501(c)3 non profit organization PIAA is proud to work in conjunction with the Hawaii High School Athletic Association and the Hawaii Athletic Directors and Coaches Association.
After a split from Hawaii Sports Network, PIAA was started in September 2003, and became a 501(c)3 non profit organization shortly there after. The staff of PIAA has been working in this field since 1999, assisting hundreds of Hawaii & American Samoa high school athletes secure over $10 million in scholarship money. Our Staff: Doris Sullivan, CEO/Director is a graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park. As a student, Doris tutored athletes throughout her four years at College Park, including well known athletes such as NBA All Star Buck Williams (New Jersey Nets) and teammate Albert King, 13 year NFL veteran Neal Oklewicz (Washington Redskins), former NFL player and current NFL Coach Mike Tice and Boomer Esiason in his freshman year. After graduating, Doris worked for one of the largest PR firms in the Washington/Baltimore area and worked on accounts such as Oscar Meyer, Pepsi and Scrubbing Bubbles. When a college classmate called and told her of an opening with the Washington Bullets in marketing and public relations, she jumped at the opportunity to work for an NBA Team and with players such as NBA All-Stars Wes Unseld, Elvin Hayes, Mitch Kupchak, Kevin Greevey, Rick Mahorn and more. Doris is married 26 years to Bill, with two sons, Billy, a Damien grad, USAFA Grad and Air Force Pilot, and Kevin, a Saint Louis grad and current student at U of Arizona and Kansai University in Japan. Doris has been a volunteer with the Special Olympics since she was in 7th grade. Danny Cup Choy, Director of Student Services is a 2000 graduate of Kamehameha Schools, where he played on the Warriors football team and a 2004 graduate of Loyla Marymount University. Danny did an internship with Hawaii Sports Network where he formed his friendship with Doris and Darnell. After a stint as a coach for El Segundo H.S. in California and missing home, Danny returned to Hawaii and does his volunteer work with PIAA. (Danny is on sabatical, working on his Masters at LMU) PIAA Camp Directors: PIAA has a group of over 50 volunteers helping with a variety of services from organizaiton, teaching, financial aid assistance, video production.
