Summer 2007 Speed & Quickness Schedule

Last updated 9/5/07
Because PIAA receives questions on football camps, combines and clinics daily, here are the most often asked Q & A's!

Note: Division 1 college coaches may no longer attend "Combines" where events are timed. Therefore, PIAA has changed our event to meet the new NCAA requirements. Athletes will no longer be timed in any events.

    1. Must I go to a mainland camp to have my official times recorded?
Answer: Absolutely not! You have several options
      a. Your high school coach can time you. This is OFFICIAL!
      b. You may attend a local camp like the Just Win, Inc camp on Maui, local clinics or combines. There are many from March throughout the summer months. This is OFFICIAL!
      c. Attend Chris Kidawski, Certified Training,   This is OFFICIAL
      c. You may attend a mainland camp if you are already planning to, but if you can not afford to go to the mainland see A, B or C..or all of the above!
    2. How do I get my times on the PIAA recruiting sheet?
      a. If you attend the training with Chris Kidawski, you can have your times posted.
      b. If your profile is posted on the PIAA website you are on the recruiting sheet
      c. If you attend any local combines, camps or clinics where you are tested, please provide us with your verifiable official times.
    3. Must I attend a NIKE combine or camp?
      a. If you can get to a NIKE or Adidas camp or combine, their camps and combines are highly recommended. This is a great exposure tool. But remember, there are large numbers of athletes there, so go where you will stand out.
    4. Must I attend a camp on a college campus?
      a. If you plan on going to the mainland for a camp, go, but choose the right program! Attend a camp at a college where you can legitimately play ball! example: If you feel you can play in the Pac10, choose a Pac10 camp. If you feel you are a D2 player, check out some D2 programs where you might like to play so you can be seen by their staff. If you want to go to a particular school where you feel you can play, go to that colleges camp if you can fit it into your schedule.
    5. Is a SPARQ rating necessary to get recruited?
      a. No. However - it is a recruiting tool used by some colleges and if you have the opportunity to get a SPARQ rating, by all means, get it. Most important are your individual times.
    6. How many camps, clinics and combines should I attend?
      a. Attend as many as you are comfortable with. If you are attending mainland camps, be sure you give yourself several days in between to rest up so you can do your best at the next one. The local camps, combines and clinics are well spread out - March, May, June and July. Most have excellent college coaches who will be in attendance and most do not confilict with mainland camps.
