VIDEO & RESUME INFORMATION

A GOOD VIDEO IS ESSENTIAL TO BE RECRUITED!

Just how important is your sport video? It is not just important it is crucial. Even if college coach has seen you play in person or if you have attended their camp, you need video. Even tremendous stats and a recommendation from your high school coach will not secure a scholarship alone. A good video for island students can give you the advantage you need. When you are considering schools outside of Hawaii (or any college if you are from Samoa), you must have up to date video of your game or event.

It is imperative a parent arrange to video several events or games. If the parent cannot do it, he or she should arrange to have someone record or request copies from the coach. (Please do not forget to bring a blank DVD to your coach). You cannot just hope someone else will have tape available for your to borrow.

Video should include:

  1. 5-8 minutes of highlights arranged starting with the best first.
  2. Full game - your best game of the year from start to finish
  3. Neatly labeled with name, address, e-mail, phone, postion & jersey # and your coaches name and contact information.
  4. Place in a jewel case or sleeve with your information on it.
  5. Track athletes & swimmers just show best events and top performances
  6. Golfers - swing tape, tennis players - two of your best matches
  7. Football, basketball and volleyball - if you are a junior or senior, NEVER send out just highlights! It will slow dow the recruiting process!!
  8. Never include freshman/JV highlights or game video.

When you send out your video to schools, you should include:
